I never quite understood it when people claim a verse to be theirs. I mean, i had to do it when I was confirmed, but it never really meant anything to me. But when God does speak, he’s clearer than anything in the world. Even from when I was in grade school, I was so impressed with the story of Jesus throwing a fit in the temple. I thought it was awesome that a “perfect” person could get so angry and its not a bad thing. of the four gospels, i’ve always been preferential to mark, for just the silly reason that i spent the most time studying it the one year I was in bible bowl with my best friend Elizabeth. More recently God’s put a wonderful bible verse on my heart that hasn’t left. Mark 11:22-24. With faith in God, ANYTHING is possible.
There is so much in Mark chapter 11, and in its companion verses in Matthew. Its just amazing. If nothing else, I draw strength in these verses. The strength of God, that I can ask and have faith that I will recieve, if only for the sole reason that God will answer just to prove that He can. If him answering brings Glory to his name, you can be assured, he will. I can’t just say one single verse. its the entire story line. Jesus curses a fig tree, with no apparent reason. cursing it doesn’t heal anyone, doesn’t do any good to anyone. But it happens anyway. Why? Why would God grant this request demanded in the heat of anger? as far as i can tell.. just because He can. Because Jesus had faith that God would. Those disciples would see it and be like… wow. It really happened. yeah guys… God can do that too. and guess what? he can even toss mountains around, if you beleive in him. And I do not believe this is a metaphor. This is not a parable or a story or an illustration. He’s being as plain and as real as he can be. Jesus really ordered that fig treee to die, and wither away it did. He flat out said. you see that mountain over there? yeah, tell it to be tossed in hte sea, and God will do it. If you believe! “So I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have recieved it, and it will be yours.” even if ur in a temper and curse a fig tree because it happens not to have any fruit within reach.
With God, all things are possible. How can I not want to be on his side?
god is gud all da time, hallelujah. Iam confident dat all dat my father god said about my life it shall be so. Joel 2-25. and also mark 11-22
